The state funeral for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday (September 18) will likely be one of the biggest in UK history.
Shops, restaurants, and other businesses throughout Maldon will be closed as a mark of respect for The Queen.
However, Maldon District Council has issued a statement, informing the public that waste collection will carry on as normal.
The statement reads: "Waste collections will not be affected by the Bank Holiday on Monday 19 September for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
"Please present your bins as normal on your scheduled collection day."
Supermarkets in Maldon, such as Tesco Extra, Aldi, Lidl, M&S and Iceland will be closed all day.
Asda, in Heybridge, will be open 5pm until 10pm on Monday. Co-op stores are also set to be closed until 5pm.
Morrisons, in Wycke Hill Business Park, will be closed all day, although the petrol station will reopen at 5pm.
High Street restaurants Sark and Maldon Spice will be closed, "as a mark of respect for Her Majesty".
Both restaurants have laid tributes outside, with flowers and candles lit in memory of The late Queen.
Yesterday, Abdul "Jhual" Hafiz, former Mayor of Maldon and owner of Maldon Spice, told Nub News: "Her Majesty wasn't just a queen, she was a Queen of our Hearts, so we wanted to show our respect by doing what we did so everyone else can join us."
The offices of Maldon Town Council will also be closed, "to allow council staff to mourn the nation's loss".
Maldon Constitutional Club will be open from 10am and veterans, as well as members of the public, have been invited to watch a live broadcast of The Queen's funeral.
If you know of any local shops or businesses temporarily closing on Monday, or holding events in memory of The Queen, get in touch.
