Maldon Constitutional Club has invited the public, along with military veterans, to join members for a live broadcast of The Queen's state funeral on Monday (September 19).

Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away last Thursday (September 8) at Balmoral Castle, in Scotland.

In a statement, the Maldon Constitutional Club announced: "No one should feel alone during this important event in the history of our country.

"Veterans are welcome in blazers and medals to share their interactions with The Royal Family during service.

"Friends and family are all welcome on this solemn occasion to unite and show our support for The Royal Family."

The Club, based in Fambridge Road, Maldon, was established in 1908 and was reopened by local MP John Whittingdale following refurbishment in 2021.

"Nobody should feel alone or isolated during this sad time."

Des Wright, Chairman of the Maldon Constitutional Club, told Nub News: "The club would like to celebrate the Queen's service to her country over the last 70 years.

"Nobody should feel alone or isolated during this sad time.

"We would like to invite everyone - particularly any servicemen or women, ex-services and any friends or family - to join us to watch our Queen's funeral."

Army veteran Shaun 'Stig' Morgan regularly organises military and charity events and is part of the Maldon Royal British Legion.

Shaun said: "Nobody was hosting a live event for veterans (and other people on their own) to share this sad but memorable experience in Maldon."

He proposed the idea of a live broadcast to organisers at the Constitutional Club, who approved.

The club will be open from 10am and all are welcome to attend. The live broadcast is set to begin at 11am.
