Hundreds lined the streets this afternoon (August 3) to watch the Maldon Carnival Procession make its way down the High Street.

The Maldon Fire Service led the procession, followed by the Caledonian Pipe Band and the Maldon Carnival Court.

Maldon Community Pre-School, the Pioneers, Madison Heights, the Combined Military Services Museum, Action for Family Carers showed off extravagantly decorated floats.

Teens on rollerskates, Tesco trollies laden with fruit and sweets, and the traditional Morris dancers were other crowd favourites.

Morris Dancers put on a great show as they skipped down the High Street.

A float by Save Maldon's Medical Services ended the procession, with those aboard donning scrubs and placards in protest of proposals by the Mid and South Essex NHS ICB to close St Peter's Hospital.

Residents lined the streets to watch the procession, with people of all ages donating and supporting.

Local businesses, including Oakhouse Bar and the Black Rabbit Pub, were packed as revellers enjoyed the sunshine and the excitement.

Smiles all round at this year's carnival!
