Maldon's traditional Carnival procession returns to the High Street on Saturday (August 30), with a number of local businesses, charities and groups set to take part.

The procession is set to see representatives from Maldon Fire Station, local majorettes, the Carnival Queen and court, the Caledonian Pipe Band, local school children, Maldon Rugby club, dance troupes and many more take to the streets for a colourful display.

Cross Road will be closed to traffic from 11 am as the Carnival Procession lines up in Cross Road.

The Procession starts at 2.15pm from the junction of Fambridge Road and Cross Road, before making its way down Maldon High Street.

It will continue on to Lower Plume School, Mill Road, where the Queens, Bands and Majorettes will disperse and the procession ends.

All other floats will continue to Cross Road for drop off.

The procession route (Fambridge Road, High Street and Mill Road) will be closed from 2.15pm until around 4pm for traffic, with the procession predicted to finish at approximately 3.30pm.

Maldon Carnival invites spectators to help support those taking part in the procession and the hard-working Maldon Carnival volunteers.
