In pictures: Maldon annual fireworks display back with a bang

Maldon's annual firework display returned to Promenade Park this weekend, and has raised a "record amount" for local charities.

The sold-out event, organised by Maldon Rotary Club, saw thousands of people come to the Prom to watch the impressive display on Saturday (6 November).

The team welcomed one of the largest crowds the display has seen since it began, around 50 years ago, while Chelmer Radio presenters David Baker and Adrian Fox hosted the event.

The firework supplier, Star Fireworks, who delivered the spectacular event in 2019 returned once again to put on the display for attendees.

Brian Farrington, the chairman, said: "We were so excited to have Star Fireworks again as they deliver the New Year fireworks for the London Eye, so we can be assured the event will be amazing but also safe."

Organisers made the night memorable for attendees, after being forced to cancel last year's display due to the pandemic.

He continued: "The huge crowd was rewarded with great weather, a wide variety of food, great music and an impressive display.

"We are equally thrilled as we will have raised thousands for our Rotary local charities.

"We would like to thank everyone who came along as well as Maldon District Council and Promenade Park for their part in helping us deliver such a wonderful night.

"After two difficult years, I know the team at Rotary will be very happy to have achieved a record amount for their local charities.

"I'd also like to thank Tesco, Maldon, The Emporium and Washington News Maldon for their assistance and to all my team at Maldon Rotary Club."

There was a bonfire at 7pm, while the fireworks began at 7.30pm and were set off to music with a floodlit lake.

The photos of the fireworks have been provided by Essex photographer Daniel Reed.
