Jammers owner arrested
By Nub News Reporter 6th May 2026
A FORTHCOMING TV series following the takeover and this season's promotion of Maldon & Tiptree football club has been cancelled following the arrest of its co-owner as police mount a probe into rape and human trafficking allegations.
Reality TV celebrity Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his husband Scott Hutchison were both set to star in 'Up The Jammers', a series about their running of non-League side Maldon & Tiptree, who have just won the Isthmian North title.
It was due to start next week but an ITV Spokesperson said: "ITV has decided to remove Up The Jammers from the upcoming schedule. It will no longer be shown on ITV4 or ITVX as previously advertised."
Drewitt-Barlow bought non-league Maldon and Tiptree FC in February 2022
Drewitt-Barlow made history with ex-partner Tony Drewitt-Barlow for being Britain's first gay dads to twins Saffron and Aspen in 1999.
The pair were allowed to have same-sex parents on the birth certificates as "parent one" and "parent two" instead of "mother and father".
The twins were conceived using the donor eggs of one woman, Tracie McCune, and carried in the womb of another woman, Rosalind Bellany.
Although Barrie and Tony each fathered a child, they have never revealed which dad is the biological father of which twin.
The couple split in 2019, after the reality TV star confirmed he had fallen for daughter Saffron's ex Scott.
Aspen is co-owner of malton and Tiptree FC with his father.
Police officers, including a forensics team, were seen at Maldon's Drewitt-Barlow Stadium in Maldon on Wednesday afternoon (6 May).
A statement from Essex Police yesterday said: "Officers from the Serious Crime Directorate at Essex Police have today carried out co-ordinated searches of premises in Danbury, Maldon and Braintree as part of their investigation.
"Searches remain ongoing at all of the locations.
"Two men from Danbury have also been arrested:
- A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of: rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance.
- A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance.
"Both men remain in custody where they are being questioned by detectives."
Detective Inspector Lydia George, who is leading the investigation, said: "If anyone has any information they feel ready to share with us, I would ask them to contact us via the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) and the investigation team will provide you with any specialist support required."

Police added: "We have also set up an incident room which you can call on 0800 096 0095 or 0207 1580125 for international callers."
