Carter Colbey, a young student from All Saints School, has "made his hometown proud" by winning a bronze medal at the WUKF European Championships held in Warsaw, Poland.

This remarkable achievement marks him as the fourth world medallist to emerge from Kazen Kai's full-time martial arts centre, located at the top of Market Hill.

The championships, which took place from October 9 to 13, brought together thousands of participants, coaches and referees.

Carter, who trains every Tuesday under the guidance of former world champion Sam Parker, has shown exceptional dedication and skill in his martial arts journey.

His recent success follows in the footsteps of Sophie Bloomfield, who also brought home a bronze medal from the championships in Florence, Italy, in 2024.

The Kazen Kai martial arts centre has now produced three world medallists in the past decade.

Carter's achievement not only highlights his personal dedication but also the supportive and rigorous training environment provided by Kazen Kai.

Looking ahead, Carter is already setting his sights on the next big challenge: the world championships in Malmo, Sweden.

His preparation for this event is underway, and the Kazen Kai community, as well as his friends and family, are rallying behind him as he works towards success on the global stage.

Congratulations to Carter Colbey on his outstanding achievement, and best of luck as he prepares for the world championships!
