Maldon residents are being urged to check voter registration details to ensure they don't miss out when district and parish council elections take place next year.

Maldon District Council is undertaking its annual canvas to keep the local electoral register up to date, to identify who risks losing their voice at elections, and is encouraging anyone who has moved home or has children who have come of age to register details before it's too late.

Ith an ever-expanding local population and many new homes being built in the area, returning officer at Maldon District Council is Paul Dodson, who says: "The annual canvass is our way of making sure that the information on the electoral register for every address is accurate. To make sure you don't lose your say at the next election, look out for instructions from us. We will contact you by email or by post.

"If you don't hear from us by the end of September, you might not be on the register. If you want to register, the easiest way is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote."
