Maldon Stadium will host an event for over-sixties on October 2, where residents can learn about the advice and support available to them locally.
The third annual Senior Safety Day will introduce residents to local organisations, to discuss health, wellbeing, and personal safety advice. Representatives from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, a dementia charity, and Limebrook u3a are expected to attend.
An organiser said: "Come along for a morning of engaging talks, a group exercise class, and a range of stands providing information on the services available in the community."
This year's activities schedule is as follows:
- 9.30am: Arrival with tea, coffee, pastries and network the stands
- 10.15am: John and Chloe, John Ford Group
- 10.30am: Laura Mansell (Chelmsford), Essex Fire and Rescue Service
- 10.40am: Rob Warren, OT, Stanford Wellbeing
- 10.50am: Jackie Fildes, Other Halves Dementia Care Support
- 11am: Kelly Coombs, United In Kind
- 11.15am: EBC Workshop (exercise)
- 11.45am: Personal Safety Skills Workshop
- 12.15pm: Music (Brian Shaw) cakes and network the stands
- 1pm: Event close
There will be free refreshments on offer.
Last year's event saw one hundred residents attend. Participants learned about topics such as personal safety, fraud, scams, and safety in the home.
The event has been organised by Chelmsford City Council, in association with Maldon District Council. It is sponsored by the John Ford Group, which specialises in home adaptations for the elderly and disabled.
Maldon Senior Safety Day 2023 will take place at Maldon Stadium, Park Drive, CM9 5JQ.
Residents are encouraged to turn up on the day. However, those wishing to book a free space, or to ask for more information, can call 01245 606662 or get in touch via email.
