Chelmer Radio founder David Baker, a wedding DJ and Daytimes host on the Wickham Bishops-based radio station, has won the Hitched.co.uk Wedding Awards 2023.

David told Nub News: "This is brilliant news after a year in which couples have finally managed to get married - some at the fifth attempt - after Covid.

"This award means so much - especially to be recognised by Hitched, the leading wedding website to go to for your wedding."

Among 18,000 other suppliers in the database, David Baker Disco Experience won in the category of Music and DJs, making them one of the most recommended professionals by newlyweds on Hitched.co.uk.

2022 saw 'wedding boom', following hundreds of thousands of delayed celebrations during the pandemic.

The awards are based on reviews by couples who married in the past year.

David Baker Disco Experience received a total of 26 reviews on their online storefront on Hitched.co.uk, with a 5-star rating from couples who planned their weddings with them.

José Melo, Vice President of Sales for Europe at Hitched.co.uk, said professionals "had to halt their activity and suffered great losses" during "two very difficult years for the sector" professionals, this year we can finally talk about an edition where weddings were celebrated big.

Mr Melo says the Hitched Wedding Awards is based entirely on reviews from real couples, who enlisted professionals to help plan their weddings. He added it has become "an industry reference and a guarantee for couples planning their wedding every year".

David Baker hosts the Daytimes show on Chelmer Radio, from 10am until 1pm.
