Maldon District: Community Liaison Panel launched in response to residents’ queries about 1,138-home Westcombe Park development in Heybridge
Seven local councillors have teamed up to launch a 'Community Liaison Panel' to answer residents' questions during the development of over 1,000 homes in Heybridge, today (September 1).
Six Maldon District Councillors and one Essex County Councillor will share information about the 1,138 new homes being built in Westcombe Park, otherwise known as part of the North Heybridge Garden Suburb.
Maldon District Councillors Michael Edwards, Paula Spenceley, Anne Beale, Bruce Heubner, Richard Siddall, John Keyes, and Essex County Councillor Mark Durham hope to provide a 'one-stop shop' for residents' queries.
- These could include matters such as:
- Information on roadworks
- Impact of building works
- Questions over flood alleviation and drainage
- Ongoing infrastructure development – including roads, transport links, schools, health services and community facilities
- Biodiversity impacts, such as on the woodland area, or any other matters relating to the site
In a statement, a spokesperson said: "The councillors won't be able to answer every question or query themselves.
"They will need to get in touch with key contacts to get the best answers and, where possible, action for residents they can."
In addition to a dedicated email address to contact the panel, there will also be the opportunity to meet some of the members at monthly surgeries to be held in Heybridge.
Details, dates, and times of the surgeries will be advertised on Maldon District Council's website in due course, and on social media.
The panel has also set up a Facebook page, where answers to frequently asked questions and other information will be posted.
To find out more about the initiative, get in touch with the Community Liaison Panel via email.
The panel has been devised and arranged by the councillors themselves and is not part of the services offered by Maldon District Council. The councillors are not able to discuss planning applications for legal reasons.
Residents can still contact Countryside Properties, the developers of Westcombe Park, via email.
