Maldon District Council announces funding for businesses and community projects

Maldon District Council has confirmed that a series of community and business projects will once again receive funding.
The funding comes from the 2025/2026 allocations of the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).
The Council will match fund these new allocations to maximise the delivery beyond the one-year funding to further support businesses, residents, and communities.
A total of £912,446 will be used to support the projects across the District.
Previously, the Council delivered 16 UKSPF funded projects to support businesses and communities between April 2022 and March 2025, spending £999,331 of its £1m allocation.
Due to the rural nature of the District, an additional £430,328 of REPF funding was allocated to the Council in 2023 to support businesses and communities.
This funding supported 21 organisations to create and safeguard jobs, boost the local economy, and support communities.
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council said: "I am extremely proud of the projects that we have delivered with the original allocation of the UK Shared and Rural England Prosperity Funds.
"This has enabled the construction of two accessible play areas, a public pontoon in Burnham-on-Crouch, as well as a District-wide business engagement programme, that has delivered real benefit to businesses.
"We have supported 27 community and business organisations with grants, to deliver activities that contribute to increased engagement with local communities and economic growth"
"This year we are match funding the Government's allocation, which will allow us to continue to build on the great work already delivered.
"We want to maximise the opportunities for organisations to bid for funding.
"Details about this will be provided in the next few months."
Details of the projects being supported through the 2025/26 funding, as well as previously supported projects can be found on the Councils website.
