The offices of Maldon District Council, in Princes Road, have been illuminated in blue to celebrate 75 years since the NHS was founded.

This evening (July 5), landmark buildings across the UK are honouring the dedication and work of NHS staff over the past three quarters of a century.

The blue light is a symbol of the health service, so the offices have been illuminated in blue to show the council's appreciation for the organisation.

Councillor Kevin Lagan, Chairman of Maldon District Council, said: "We are proud to be joining others in marking this occasion by lighting up our Council Offices, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

"The NHS has made huge differences for the better in the lives of many, with free and quality care for all, from the founding days through to the pandemic and beyond – as well as a providing a vital, global contribution to health care, medicine, and technology.

"We are indebted to everyone who works in the NHS for their dedication and care, and we are proud to show our support by lighting up our offices and say a huge 'thank you' to all NHS staff - past and present."

The lighting of Maldon District Council Offices is one of many events taking place across the UK to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the NHS. Other events include public displays, Park Runs, fundraising events and a special service for NHS staff, volunteers, and partners at Westminster Abbey.
