Maldon District: Woman airlifted to hospital following morning collision - two men also hospitalised

A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on the Lower Burnham Road near Latchingdon, which left two others hospitalised, this morning (August 18).

Shortly before 11am, emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. Two people in the Fiesta and one person in the van was injured. One woman was seriously injured.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service told Nub News: "An adult woman was airlifted to Kings College Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, while two men were transported by road to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Broomfield Hospital."

Three ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles, two vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and a car from the Essex Emergency Medical Charity 'BASICS Essex' were sent to the scene. 

Essex Police is appealing to the public to provide information about the collision.

A police spokesperson said: "If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote incident 461 of 18 August.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am and 9pm."
