Maldon Film Club enjoys successful February

Maldon Film Club's 20th season continued in February with the screening of the highly acclaimed and profoundly emotional Till followed by Chile'76.
The films for March are the highly recommended Scrapper and All of us Strangers.
Scrapper, which was nominated for a BAFTA award, is to be screened on Wednesday March 5.
This film tells the story of Georgia who is a dreamy 12 year old girl living happily on her own in her London flat which she fills with magic. Suddenly her estranged father Jason turns up from Ibiza and forces her to confront reality. Georgia is resistant to his efforts. As they adjust to their new circumstances, Georgia and Jason find that they both still have a lot of growing up to.
Scrapper is described as a low budget British indie which is well worth a watch. So come along on March 5th and make up your own mind!
The second film for March which you can watch on Wednesday March 19 is All of us Strangers which was nominated for six BAFTA awards and directed by Andrew Haigh.
One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.
The 20th season continues until May 29, 2025 with films being shown fortnightly on Wednesdays in 2025. The Club meets at Maldon Town Hall, doors open at 7.15pm, wine and soft drinks are available at a charge from 7.30pm and unless notified to the contrary all films will commence at 8pm.
