Burnham-on-Crouch Fire Station is holding a recruitment event on 24 July in a bid to recruit more on-call firefighters, who will be paid to protect the local community.

Burnham-on-Crouch and Maldon's fire stations are both looking for recruits.

On-call firefighters must live or work within five minutes of the fire station, be over 18 and be physically fit - recruits will be given support and training in this area.

Recruits will be called out to a range of emergencies - from floods and fires to traffic collisions and chemical spills. They will be trained to deal with every situation, from providing first aid to extinguishing burning buildings.

The recruitment event at Burnham-on-Crouch Fire Station will explain the role in further detail.
