'Maldon is the safest district in Essex': Police Chief Inspector outlines top priorities for Maldon ahead of Summer

Maldon's District Commander, Chief Inspector Paul Ballard, has outlined his policing priorities ahead of the Summer months.

Chief Inspector Paul Ballard, who has been in post since November 2022, said the team will be focusing on crime prevention, road safety, and public visibility as Summer approaches.

He said: "Maldon is very safe place to live – the safest district in Essex – but we want to reduce crime further and solve more cases."

He added that officers are working to continue the downward trend in offending continues.

In the past year, the district's reported crime is down 7.6%, with theft and violent incidents seeing considerable drops. .

In February 2025, a new Community Safety Hub opened at the Maldon District Council offices, marking a major enhancement in working between Essex Police and the council.

The shared space comes as part of an aim to provide a more integrated and effective response to residents safety concerns.
