Essex Police is appealing for witnesses and footage following a serious assault in Maldon yesterday (August 12), in which a man was reportedly stabbed.

Officers were called to Wellesley Road, in the Handley Gardens estate on the outskirts of Maldon, at 4.45am. They quickly located an injured man who reported being stabbed by another man in an altercation.

The victim, in his thirties, was taken to hospital. His condition was not thought to be life changing, and he is believed to have returned home.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his mid-forties, 6'1" tall, of a muscular build with shaved hair and a beard. He was wearing all black.

He is said to have been with a woman, who remained in a white car throughout the incident, before they drove away from Wellesley Road in an unknown direction.

Officers remained on the scene to carry out further enquiries. However, at this stage, it is not believed to be of concern to the wider community.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am and 9pm.

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101. In an emergency, always call 999."

Members of the public are asked to quote incident 212 of 12 August when providing any information, to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.
