Maldon mayor opens collections for senior citizen Christmas hampers

The mayor of Maldon is welcoming donations to his collection for senior citizen hampers this Christmas.

The hampers are being organised by Councillor David Ogg, the town mayor, and will be distributed to elderly residents in the town to help them get into the festive spirit.

Please donate any of the following items:

- Small tins or jars of vegetables

- Small tins or jars of fish

- Small tins or jars of meat

- Small packets of rice

- Small packets of pasta

- Small jars of coffee

- Boxes of tea bags

- Jams

- Marmalades

- Biscuits in sealed packets

- Cakes in sealed packets

- Chocolate

Councillor Ogg said: "All donations are received with thanks."

You can drop off your donations at the Maeldune Heirtage Centre, which can be found at 2 Market Hill in Maldon, by Monday 6 December.

Councillor Ogg is also holding a range of charity events in the coming months to raise money for his two chosen charities - The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together.

A charity opera evening, Las Vegas casino night and quiz night will be held at Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill.
