One person has been arrested after a routine patrol became a police pursuit in Mayland.

The incident, which happened on the evening of November 1, began after police attempted to stop a vehicle of interest.

Instead of stopping, the vehicle made off, resulting in a police pursuit involving multiple Police vehicles.

The car was safely stopped, with the reason for the getaway soon made clear to officers.

One individual was arrested for a series of offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence, driving whilst drunk and for failing to stop for Police.

Sergeant Wilkinson of the local policing team said: "Maldon Officers will continue to pursue and capture any person who commits crime within our area, especially those who feel they are above the law and show no regard for the safety of the community.

"Maldon is a safe place and any person who threatens this should expect to receive the full force of the law. We will look for those seeking to commit crime in our area.

"We will find you, and we will ensure that you are arrested and placed before the Court"
