MALDON District Council has announced the overhaul and upgrade of the skatepark at Promenade Park in Maldon is due to begin following the decision of the Council's Central Area Planning Committee on Wednesday, 22 October 2025.

The current skatepark will be replaced with a larger and modern facility.

Last year, a public survey was conducted to gather views from skatepark users on the skateparks in Promenade Park and Riverside Park.

The feedback received was instrumental in shaping the new designs for these facilities and saw the first phase completed with the construction of new skateparks at West Maldon Community Centre, and Riverside Park in Burnham-on-Crouch.

The works will be carried out by Bendcrete Skateparks Ltd, and are scheduled to begin this week, with an expected completion date of Spring 2026.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "I am delighted that we are moving forward with the final phase of the Skatepark Upgrade Project. This new and improved facility will provide a fantastic space for skatepark users to enjoy and develop their skills."
