A local community organisation, which aims to 'promote and preserve' Maldon's historical heritage, is looking to recruit a new member to join its committee.
The Maldon Society is seeking an extra member to join its 'active and friendly' team of nine, to help with various correspondence.
Minute-taking and membership correspondence are already undertaken by other committee members.
The Society says its only requirements are "a love of Maldon", the ability to email and create documents, along with attendance at 10 committee meetings a year if possible. Each meeting is currently held on the first Thursday of every month, in the late afternoon.
For further details, those interested are asked to email the Chairman, who will be happy to provide further details of possible topics prospective recruits may wish to get involved with.
Founded in 1957, the Maldon Society encourages civic pride in and around the town, while also promoting cooperation with other local organisations.
Last Monday (August 15) the Society announced its monthly meetings this autumn, which include:
- Thursday 1 September: 'Maldon High Street Together - The Way Forward', with Allison Gray
- Thursday 6 October: 'By train to the seaside, ending at Maldon East Station' with Adrian Wright
- Thursday 3 November: 'Chelmer Blackwater Reserve CIC', with Patrick Ellum & Simon Wood
The Maldon Society holds monthly meetings in the Cygnet Room behind the Swan Hotel, in Maldon High Street. Each meeting focuses on a different local issue.
