A 38-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after a crash in Heybridge, which caused a vehicle to overturn.
One person was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care.
The crash took place on Colchester Road, in Heybridge, shortly before 2.45pm yesterday afternoon (Monday, 6 September).
The collision involved two vehicles.
Essex Police has now confirmed that a man has been charged with drink driving in relation to the incident.
John Willis, 38, of Pitt Avenue, in Witham, is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on 21 September.
The incident caused traffic disruption throughout Maldon, particularly through the town, with police officers turning cars away at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that traffic close to the scene came to a "standstill".
Children who had just left school had to reroute themselves to find a way home as they could not pass through the road.
The East of England Ambulance Service, Essex Police and Essex County Fire & Rescue Service all attended the incident.
In a statement on Monday after the collision, Essex Police said: "We arrived to secure the scene and worked alongside firefighters and medics.
"A road closure was put in place, which was lifted by 5.30pm."
