The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning over the weekend as Storm Darragh approaches the UK.

The warning covers from 3pm Friday 6 until 6am on Sunday 8.

While Essex will see gusts from 40 to 50mph, other parts of the UK including Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland and western parts of England and Wales will see speeds of up to 80mph.

The strong northerly or northwesterly winds are likely to cause some minor damage to buildings, resulting in longer journey times and potentially affecting mobile phone coverage.

Maldon is set to see a soggy weekend, with a high chance of rain all-day Saturday and Sunday.

The weather has caused Burnham Carnival Committee to cancel the annual Festive Fayre, citing safety concerns.
