Comedian Jo Brand's daughter, singer Maisie Bourke, completed the Maldon Mud Race in April and has confirmed she will take part again next year.

Maisie, known professionally as Maisi, and her boyfriend, Alfie Richer, took part in the Mud Race two months ago. They raised more than £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Maldon Mud Race's charities, in memory of her uncle Bill and comedian Sean Lock.

Maisie, 21, said: "Everyone I met was so kind and welcoming."

"I'll definitely be back in Essex soon!

"My boyfriend's family is from a town near Southend, so we visit [the area] a lot. Normally a few times a month."

Sean Lock, who died from lung cancer in August last year, was a close friend of Maisi's mum Jo. They took part in the Mud Race together in 2010.

Following the race, Maisi told Nub News: "I love any sort of adventure activity, and doing it for charity felt so good."

This Wednesday (June 29), Maisi will release her third single, 'Quick Fixes'. She told Nub News she hopes it will "convey to people that you don't need to change yourself just because someone online is telling you to."

Maisi said: "You should look after yourself, but you shouldn't feel pressure to reach the impossible beauty standards we see online.

"I always get told online that I'd look so much prettier if I got my eyebrows done. But I like them how they are, so I just ignore the comments."

Maisi says her new single is about cosmetic adverts seen online for "incredibly expensive skin care, diets and health food, facial fillers".

"The media wants you to be insecure about things, so you buy their solution.

"This song is about how there's nothing actually wrong with you - you're perfect without these 'quick fixes'."

"My mum (Jo Brand) has been really supportive. I always ask her opinion on songs before I release them, and she helps me make the odd TikTok here and there.

"I don't have any plans to release an album right now, I'm just planning on releasing singles.

"With Quick Fixes, I'm hoping to reach more people and have more listeners enjoy my music.

"I'm really excited to see what happens."

Quick Fixes will be available to stream on platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer this Wednesday.
