Plume Academy celebrate ‘excellent’ GCSE results

Plume Academy in Maldon is celebrating an "excellent" set of GCSE examination results today (August 22).

A significant number of Plume Academy's students secured extremely impressive results including:

• Jack Simper - 7 grade 9s, 1 Distinction*, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 6

• Jack Long – 6 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, 1 grade 6

• Bethan Willis – 6 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s

• James Wedge – 6 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 6, 1 grade 5

• Freddie Payne – 2 grade 9s, 1 Distinction*, 6 grade 8s, 1 grade 7, 1 grade 6

• Ashton Peake – 4 grade 9s, 1 Distinction*, 2 grade 8s, 2 grade 7s, 1 grade 6, 1 grade 5

A significant number of students made outstanding progress during their time at the academy. 

The academy would particularly like to congratulate the following students, each of whom achieved outcomes that were at least two grades above expectation across all their subjects:

Mr Baster and Mrs Clark, the Joint Heads of Academy, said:

"We are delighted to be able to celebrate the achievements of this year group. 

"As a cohort they have worked extremely hard to secure the grades they deserve whilst demonstrating their resilience and determination throughout their time at the academy. 

"We are thrilled to be able to recognise and celebrate their individual achievements today. 

"We are also incredibly proud of the young people they have grown in to during their time at Plume Academy – they are a wonderful year group, and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.  

"Whether our students are staying with us, moving onto college or progressing to apprenticeships or employment, we wish them every success in their bright futures. 

"Congratulations to them all and we would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff and parents who have supported them unconditionally."

Many students receiving their results today have chosen to stay at the academy to study their A-Levels.

Mr Chauhan, the year group's Head of Year added, "Firstly, I am very proud that they achieved what they deserved. 

"Furthermore, these results are a credit to their hard work,strength of character, resilience and desire to achieve their very best. Year 11 are an incredible group of young people, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them."

Mr Chauhan added, "I'm going to miss being their Head of Year, but I am pleased that they are now able to move onto their next stages as a result of their hard work, and I wish them every success with chosen Post 16 pathways".
