Planning proposals to expand Great Braxted Farm Shop have been approved by Maldon District Council Planning.

Great Braxted Farm Shop, on the junction of Braxted Park Road and Maldon Road, received the approval July 31 after five months of waiting.

The family-run farm shop trades local produce including flowers, fruit, meat, fish, bakery items and other shelled food, as well as operating a food and drink hut.

Plans involve the conversion of an agricultural barn into a farm shop, with the existing farm shop being turned into a café.

This move will create an internal floor space of 283 metres, nearly tripling the size of the current farm shop, and opening up space for a sit-down café.

Proposals also involve the expansion of the car park, from six spaces to 32, including two blue badge holder spaces, two Electric Vehicle charging points, and a new cycle store.

The expansion is set to open three new jobs at the Farm Shop.
