Staycations Maldon, which recently launched in the town, has opened its second luxury apartment for guests to let - The Byrhtnoth Suite.

The one-bedroom apartment accommodates up to five people and includes an ensuite alongside a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed in the living room.

It has been available since the beginning of October and retains the history of the Grade II listed Kings Head Centre in which it is situated.

Shannon, the property manager at Staycations Maldon, said: "The Byrhtnoth Suite would suit a family vacating for perhaps a short break in Maldon, an extended staycation for two or for a bridal suite."

Staycations Maldon launched in July this year, under the leadership of James Mann and his team, to offer guests luxury self-catering apartments in the heart of Maldon and an experience like no other in the town and its surrounding areas.

The team opened the first Staycations apartment - The Bright Suite - in late July, and it has already been almost fully booked.

Shannon said: "The Byrhtnoth Suite has all the characteristics of our Bright Suite with the exposed beams and antique furniture, but with even more room."

The rooms are self-catering but can accommodate cleaning and additional services upon request.

Each room is named after a historical Maldon figure to reflect the town's history.

The Byrhtnoth Suite is named after the Ealdorman of Essex, who died on 11 August 991 during the Battle of Maldon and is the subject of a historical landmark in the town - the statue at the end of Promenade Park.

The room comes with special touches, free of charge, to make guests feel at home.

Guests are provided with complimentary port as a nightcap, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries.

They can also enjoy various teas and coffees as well as cereal and locally-sourced jams, honey and marmalade.
