Subway franchisee Shahin Ahmed opened his new branch in Fullbridge, Maldon, in August and has quickly built up a strong base of regular customers.

Over the first two months, nearly 70 per cent off all customers to the restaurant have visited regularly, with most returning every day.

"I want to show my appreciation for the warm local response and thank my staff for their continuing support," Shahin told Nub News.

"Their hard work has helped make our restaurant a success."

Shahin has employed ten members of staff, all of whom live in Maldon. He intends to hire more locals as his business becomes more established.

Most recently, he has hired a delivery driver to offer JustEat orders from November 1. Meals are also currently available to order via Uber Eats.

The restaurant has proven popular with families and students at local schools.

To celebrate a successful two months since opening, Shahin has introduced an exclusive offer for students. Anyone in full-time education, such as at Plume Academy, Maldon Primary School, or Heybridge Co-operative Academy, can enjoy the 'Student Meal Deal'. The deal entitles customers to buy any sandwich from £3.99 and get a free regular drink.

"It's almost the same price as a pre-made supermarket sandwich, but this is made fresh with quality ingredients," Shahin added.

Meanwhile, he is also offering a breakfast menu which he is confident "will beat anyone on price", from 7am until 11am.

Despite his restaurant being a local cog in a multinational machine, Shahin says he has been well-supported by Subway.

He said: "They have allocated a Development Support Manager to us who lives in Maldon, so she understands the area well."

Shahin is proud to welcome customers from all walks of life, with a fully accessible restaurant. Alongside a disabled toilet, there are baby changing facilities and step-free access.

A 10 per cent discount is also available for all NHS staff.

The restaurant recently earned a five-star hygiene rating from Environmental Health.

Subway Fullbridge is just one business Maldon Nub News is proud to partner with. Without community-minded supporters like Shahin, Nub News would not be able to produce locally relevant, clickbait-free news for the Maldon District.
