A new physiotherapy business has opened in Maldon this week which has its roots in the care and support a health practitioner gave local residents during the covid lockdown.

Last year Maldon Nub News reported on the efforts of Joani St Cliere to keep her physiotherapy business going – but also offer help and help to people trapped in their homes by the pandemic.

By passing on her skills and expertise online Joani proved a lifeline for many local residents.

She has been teaching community based fitness in Maldon for more than 20 years and as things began to get make to some vestige of normality, she decided to look at business opportunities.

This week she opened 'Maldon Physiotherapy' at Phoenix Place for Health in Heybridge, where residents can obtain private musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Joani said: "I have worked for the NHS for several years and have now decided to branch out and set up my own private practice.

"I have considerable experience in treating a wide variety of problems including low back pain and neck pain, but also regularly treat patients with other joint pain (knee, hip, shoulder etc), sports injuries, trauma, and also patients that are managing long-term conditions for example Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, ME and diabetes to name a few.

"I already run a well-established small company, Essex Health and Fitness and we offer community-based classes in Maldon with an emphasis on inclusivity, and we firmly believe that there is a way for everyone to be more active and healthy and we are all about supporting our members in achieving their goals.

"It seemed logical to me to reach out to more people by supporting them through their initial concerns with physiotherapy treatment and then help them to become more active, independent, and where possible to be free of pain!"

You can get in touch with Joani via her Facebook page.
