The popular Maldon Mud Race will return with a line-up of famous faces taking part - plus a huge variety of activities and refreshments for the whole family.

Comedian Jo Brand, who ran the Mud Race with the late Sean Lock in 2010, will start this year's race. Her daughter Maisie is set to take on the challenge for the second time, with her boyfriend Alfie.

ITV Anglia News' Becky Jago and David Whitely are also expected to take part, alongside BBC Essex breakfast presenters Sonia Watson and Ben Fryer. They will be joined by individuals and teams from all over the country.

Farleigh Hospice's Walk for Life 2023

Walk for Life 2023 will see hundreds of people walk to Chelmsford from Paper Mill Lock or Heybridge Basin.

Join the Walk for Life, a charity fundraising event, this Sunday (May 14) in aid of Farleigh Hospice.

Choose between two scenic routes, taking in the peaceful towpaths of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation:

  • 12km - a ramble from Paper Mill Lock
  • 24km - a more demanding route from Heybridge Basin

Six colleagues from kitchen supplier Howdens in Maldon will take on the challenge, hiking 24 kilometres (14.9 miles) from Heybridge Basin to Chelmsford. Between them, the 'Howdens Hikers' hope to raise £1,000 for charity.

Tickets bought on the day cost £25 for adults and £10 for children under 16.
