Heybridge Swifts travel to Basildon on Tuesday evening (8 November) and will face Isthmian Premier side Bowers & Pitsea in the Essex Senior Cup.

They were promoted as champions of the Isthmian League North at the end of the 2018/19 season - that was the season Swifts finished fifth but defeated Maldon & Tiptree in the play-off final but they were denied promotion by a quirk of league reshuffling!

Swifts were the only side to win a league game at Bowers that season and inflicted just two of Bowers' four league defeats that season - Charlie Kendall scoring the winner in Swifts' 1-0 home win in January 2019 and a magnifient pivotal win away at Crown Avenue in April 2019 as Toib Adeyemi, Dan Walker & Kreshnic Krasniqi (p) scored in a 3-1 win.

Last season Swifts exited the Essex Senior Cup in the fourth round at their own ground, losing 2-1 to "tenants" Hashtag United with Alex Stephenson on target.

Swifts last played Bowers & Pitsea in the Essex Senior Cup in the 2017/18 third round when they lost 1-2 at home (Joan Luque scoring for Swifts) in a game where Luck Callander was sent off - the game also featured current Swifts keeper Callum Chafer in goal for Bowers & Pitsea.
