Maldon's Friary Walled Garden to mark Coronation with Bank Holiday open day
White Horse Lane, Maldon
Community Events
UNTIL Monday 8th May
In a change to the usual Sunday open day, The Friary Walled Garden will open on Bank Holiday Monday (May 8) as part of 'The Big Help Out'.
Organised to mark the Coronation of King Charles lll, the event aims to promote volunteering in local communities.
The garden is maintained by a small team of volunteers who would like to share the benefits of working in a beautiful and historic setting which close to nature - and invite anyone interested in gardening to join them.
Organiser Karen Hutchings said: "We usually work on Tuesday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm and all day on the first Sunday of the month, when we open to visitors. Despite being only one fifth of an acre in size there is a variety of beds, borders, box hedging, grass and gravel paths and a wildlife pond to look after throughout the seasons.
"Please come along to find out what is behind the walls of Maldon's Secret Garden and have a chat with our volunteers."
The garden will be open between 10am and 4pm, weather permitting. It is located in White Horse Lane, Maldon, next to the Town Library.
