Read all about the huge range of family events happening in the Maldon District to mark the King's Coronation this Bank Holiday weekend.

Maldon Town Council

Maldon Town Council has arranged for the Moot Hall to be decorated. Wendy Munion completed the design and decoration, which will be on display throughout the Coronation weekend.

All local schoolchildren will also receive a commemorative badge from the Town Council, to mark the Coronation.

Power of Gaming Coronation Party at Maldon Town Hall

To celebrate the King's Coronation, the Power of Gaming will be hosting a Street Party at the Maldon Town Hall on Monday 8 May, from 12.30pm until 4.30pm. 

As well as gaming, there will be other games to take part in and party food will be supplied. 

This is a free event. Booking is not required – drop-ins are welcome.

Bradwell-on-Sea Coronation Celebrations

The team at Bradwell Village Hall has organised a weekend of events to mark the Coronation.

On Saturday 6 May, there will be a free big-screen live broadcast of the Coronation in the hall from 11am. This will be followed by an Evening Barn Dance, with 'Spring Heel Jacks' live band and caller. Tickets cost £15 each. Get in touch with the village hall via email for more details and to purchase tickets. A bar will be provided by the aptly named 'King's Head'.

On Sunday 7 May, there will be a 10am Service at St Thomas' Church. This will be followed from 12 noon onwards with fun and games on the field. From 12 noon to 1pm, there will be an appearance from 'Mr Happy', a bouncy castle, 'Eccentrics' collection of vintage vehicles, games, and more. Food and drink outlets will be available on the field and at the Women's Institute Tea Room. At 3pm Presentation of rosettes for Royal Scarecrows (throughout Bradwell) and Coronation mugs to Bradwell children.

Coronation drinks and nibbles at Townrow, Maldon

Celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III with a community event at Townrow, in Maldon High Street.

Enjoy drinks, nibbles and do some shopping to support local businesses in the high street.

Bank Holiday open day at Maldon's Friary Walled Garden

In a change to the usual Sunday open day, The Friary Walled Garden will open on Bank Holiday Monday (May 8) as part of 'The Big Help Out'.

Organised to mark the Coronation of King Charles lll, the event aims to promote volunteering in local communities.

The garden is maintained by a small team of volunteers who would like to share the benefits of working in a beautiful and historic setting which close to nature - and invite anyone interested in gardening to join them.

The garden will be open between 10am and 4pm, weather permitting. It is located in White Horse Lane, Maldon, next to the Town Library.
