The 2021 Census will be 'digital first' – and now Maldon district volunteers are being sought to help people fill out the forms online.

The Census is completed every 10 years and records information about people and households across the UK. This time it will be accessible through an online platform.

Maldon and District Community Volunteer Service (CVS) will be offering support to help residents access the online platform and complete the process of filling out Census questions. Now the service is looking for volunteers to help.

Due to the uncertainty around the coronavirus pandemic exact details of how this will be done are not available at this time.

However, it is expected that volunteers will support people in community venues where they will use CVS tablets to access the Census questionnaire. Volunteers will also complete a monitoring record for the individual.

Those who take part will be asked to support either a morning or afternoon session (around three hours) at either the CVS offices in Heybridge or at pre-agreed venue in the district.

Full training will be provided via an online portal and a standard DBS check is required.

Training for this role will begin in January 2021 but volunteers will not be actively needed until March 2021.

Good IT skills are required for this role along with patience, good listening skills and the ability to make others feel comfortable.
