Maldon mayor raises almost £4,000 for charity, and announces further fundraising event
The Maldon town mayor has raised almost £4,000 for charity since taking up the position in May last year.
The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together were chosen by Councillor David Ogg to benefit from the fund at the start of his mayoral year.
He told Nub News: "I've raised nearly £4,000 during the year so far.
"We've already given £1,000 to Churches Together through the Salvation Army when they did their Christmas present appeal, and I'm hoping to raise more."
Churches Together is the network of Christian Churches in Maldon, who played an instrumental role in coordinating the voluntary pandemic response in the district.
The Sea-Change Sailing Trust, also chosen by Councillor Ogg, offers sailing barge experiences to young people with disabilities, who are experiencing social exclusion or who are challenged by traditional educational settings.
An opera evening, Las Vegas-themed casino night and golf day are among the fundraising events hosted by Councillor Ogg so far.
He is now hoping to raise even more money with a charity evening on Tuesday, 15 March at Maldon Spice - with proceeds going towards his fund.
The evening at the popular Indian restaurant, which officially opened on 1 August last year, will begin at 6.45pm.
Tickets cost £25 per person, with drinks available to be bought separately.
To book, contact Maldon Town Council at 01621 857373 or email [email protected].
Tickets must be booked and paid for by Tuesday, 8 March.
You can find Maldon Spice at 111 Maldon High Street.
