Plume Academy made the most of a week dedicated to helping students think about their future careers with talks from a range of professionals and industry experts.

National Careers Week is a celebration of careers and a fantastic opportunity for young people to get an important insight to the future of work and further learning.

Throughout National Careers Week, Plume Academy delivered a full careers programme to ensure that all students were able to gain an insight into a variety of careers, improve understanding of the different options after year 11 and year 13 and encourage engagement with future employers and education providers.

As part of National Careers Week, Plume Academy hosted a week of virtual career talks.

These included presentations from a variety of employment and future education providers, including Essex Police recruitment, the Army, University of East Anglia and AIM apprenticeships, to name but a few.

Throughout the week, there was a total of 328 attendees to live events and not only were those attendees able to learn from the presentations, but they also had the opportunity to engage with the provider via a live Q&A.

In addition to this provision, the theme continued across the curriculum, with a structured tutorial programme and subject starter activities. Students were encouraged in all lessons to make links with their subject and future career opportunities, further developing their awareness of future work and further learning.

Feedback from students has been very positive with one student commenting: "I very much enjoyed the career talk that I attended and the week as a whole. I felt that it was very beneficial in giving me an insight into the future career I may wish to endeavour upon and the many different routes that I can take to achieve my career goals!"

Beth Meltzer, Plume Academy's Leader of CEIAG (Careers Education, Information and Guidance) said: "Overall, the week was extremely positive and provided an excellent opportunity for all students to start thinking about and engaging in conversations around their future career choices."
