Award-winning author Katherine Rundell will visit Maldon United Reformed Church on October 21, to discuss her new fantasy series.
Katherine received the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the Blue Peter Book Award in 2015 for her story 'Rooftoppers'. She also won the Costa Book Award for her children's book 'The Explorer' in 2017. Her other popular works include 'Life According to Saki' and The 'Wolf Wilder' .
In an event organised by Maldon Books, the author will discuss her new fantasy series 'Impossible Creatures'. The event will last one hour and 30 minutes.
Olivia Rosenthall, owner of Maldon Books, told Nub News: "We are hugely excited - we've been planning this for quite a while and are ever so pleased Katherine agreed. She is a prolific author for both children and adult books and her books appeal to a lot of readers.
"Her books are studied in schools and are really popular with school children, and are similar to the likes of Michael Morpurgo and Phillip Pullman."
Maldon Books organised a similar event last year, where Tracy Beaker author Jacqueline Wilson discussed her literature with children and young adults in the local area. The event was so popular that tickets sold out and a second event had to be organised.
Olivia says she is "bowled over" to be able to host a similarly popular author, saying: "The United Reform Church is a comfortable venue for such popular events, and we know attendees last time had a lovely time."
The event will include a sit down discussion of Katherine's newest series, along with a book signing. Copies of her new book, plus her other works, will also be available to purchase.
Tickets for the event are on sale now, costing £2.50 per child and £5 per adult.
Currently, Maldon Books is offering exclusive discounts for members of Maldon Film Club, in a collaboration to mark the start of the club's 19th season.
