Two vehicles collided near the junction between Lower Burnham Road and Fambridge Road/B1010 shortly after 6.30am this morning (September 1).

A black Vauxhall Corsa was seen mounting the curb next to Seafood Corner, before colliding with a white BMW. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured.

The collision caused "horrendous" traffic queues as motorists were diverted, causing delays of up to an hour.

A nearby resident captured the incident on his CCTV.

He told Nub News: "I probably have another 70 videos of crashes on that corner.

"We have at least 20 crashes per year."

Last week, a woman died in hospital following a collision near the same junction. Two others were hospitalised.

In July, emergency services were called to the scene of another collision between two vehicles on Fambridge Road. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.

This latest incident has intensified calls for changes to be made to the road layout. A spokesperson for Essex Highways has been contacted in relation to the matter.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Essex Police told Nub News: "There were no serious injuries or arrests."

They added it did not look as though the incident had impacted "any of our major roads", declining to provide a statement.

However, the police spokesperson did confirm that there appears to have been an oil spill on the section of road where the collision took place.

Traffic is said to have cleared as of noon on Friday, September 1.

Nub News is awaiting a response from Essex Highways.
