Work began this week on Riverside Park's new inclusive play area.

Plans for the space involve a medium sized climbing and slides structure, a swing set, merry-go-round and a seesaw.

The play area is being built alongside Riverside Park's existing play area.

The work comes as part of a partnership between Maldon District Council and play equipment provider KOMPAN to provide a modern and inclusive update to play equipment in the District.

On announcement of the plans, a spokesperson from Maldon District Council said: "This project is a testament to our commitment to nurturing our parks and open spaces, ensuring they remain places where imagination and play continue to thrive."

The play area is still under construction with no public access to the site.

Construction is expected to be finished by the end of September, after which the play area will be commissioned and opened for public use.

The project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
