Maldon & Tiptree FC fans and players donate 250 Easter eggs to two local charities
Fans, players, and staff at Maldon & Tiptree FC donated 250 Easter eggs to the Jammers Fans Association's annual collection, on behalf of Maldon Food Pantry and Home-Start.
Last year's collection overwhelmed the Maldon branch of Home-Start so much that this year's haul had to be shared with the local food bank.
Lee Witney, one of the organisers, told Nub News: "I would like to say a massive 'thank you' to everybody who donated.
"Times are tough – and only getting tougher. I'm so glad people were still able to help."
Lee says it took Home-Start several weeks to hand out the vast quantity of Easter eggs received last year. Therefore, ahead of this year's collection, organisers contacted Reverend Rob Sefton at Maldon Food Pantry, to ensure two worthy local causes could benefit.
Praise went to the Club, in particular Chairman Danny Barber and General Manager Mitch Cowling, for their support.
Committee members presented the donations to Alison Janes and Michelle Lock from Home-Start, before the Jammers' "thrilling" 5-3 win against Lowestoft on March 25.
Last August, the Jammers Fans Association (JFA) collected hundreds of items for Maldon Food Pantry, following another successful collection the year before.
WATCH JFA Chairman Tony Williams and association member Scott Mitchell explain why they felt it was so important to help the community with their food bank collection:
