Supporters of Maldon & Tiptree Football Club collected hundreds of items for the local food bank before the match against Heybridge Swifts yesterday (August 29).

Following a successful collection in December 2021, the Jammers Fans Association decided to run the initiative again, in partnership with Heybridge Swifts.

The donations will be delivered to Maldon Food Pantry on Wednesday.

Maldon & Tiptree FC Chairman Jerry Carter with Tony Williams, Chair of the Jammers Fans Association, in front of the foodbank donations.

Ahead of yesterday's collection, Scott Mitchell, a member of the Jammers Fans Association told Nub News: "Since the inception of the Jammers Supporters' Association at the beginning of 2021, we have worked with the club to build strong community ties to promote the club and benefit the community."

The collection opened at 1pm and closed shortly before kick-off, when Maldon & Tiptree took on local team Heybridge Swifts.

The Jammers suffered their fourth defeat of the season, as the Swifts beat them 2-1.

Maldon & Tiptree will be looking for a much-needed win against Haringey Borough this Saturday (September 3). Meanwhile, Heybridge Swifts will play Hitchin Town.
