Met Office issues Yellow Weather Warning for this week as Storm Ciarán hits Maldon District

"Potentially damaging winds" from Storm Ciarán are likely to affect the Maldon District this week, the Met Office has announced.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for "very strong" winds which are set to hit the district, along with some rain and thunder. The weather warning is in place from 9pm on Wednesday, until 11.59pm on Thursday.

Residents have been warned that buildings and homes could be damaged, power lines brought down, and public transport could be cancelled or delayed. There is a small chance that flying debris will result in a danger to life.

Maldon

On Wednesday, there will be occasional rain with winds building as Storm Ciarán approaches. The maximum temperature will be 13°C. By Thursday, rain is expected throughout the day, with thunder at around 9am.

Burnham-On-Crouch

It will be a wet start on Wednesday, with rain expected throughout the morning. That will continue into the afternoon, with thunder expected at around 3pm. On Thursday, rain is expected throughout the day, with more thunder at around midday.
