A planning application for a care home on a development in Heybridge has been received this week by Maldon District Council Planning.

The application, submitted by LNT Care Developments, seeks approval to build a 66-bed care home on the site of the Westcombe Park development, off Broad Street Green Road and Langford Road.

The care home would see 3230 sq. metres of floor space, consist of three floors, and offer 32 car parking spaces.

Senior Development Planner for LNT Care Developments, Jo Kemp, said in a letter to the council: "We are passionate about the value a great care home can bring to a community, creating 60 jobs and 66 first class bedrooms for 66 happy residents to live in.

"We know from experience how reassuring it can be to move from an empty home to a warm caring environment and the layout of this home would ensure that residents can access all the facilities, move around the building freely and nobody is far away from the community we create at the heart of the home.

"This proposed development would be very much a local community facility, with residents and staff expected to emanate from the local area, typically within a 3-mile radius of the site to ensure that the local community benefits first from the development."

A previous application for the care home was refused back in December 2024, after concerns with the size, scale and design of the proposed building, as well as whether proposed on-site car parking and electric scooter storage would be sufficient.
