ACTOR Lenny Rush, 14, from Burnham-on-Crouch, has secured an impressive assortment of roles in his blossoming career, winning a comedy BAFTA and starring in Doctor Who. He spoke to Nub News about his latest projects and why he's got his sights set on Hollywood.

Lenny rose to prominence when he starred in the CBeebies documentary soap Our Family. Since then, he has appeared in numerous BBC shows and in two films, winning a BAFTA for his role in the comedy series 'Am I Being Unreasonable?'.

"I definitely have a soft spot for 'Am I being Unreasonable?' as I was able to do a lot of improvisation, which is why I enjoyed it so much," Lenny told Maldon Nub News.

"We had a lot of fun filming - mainly because I was able to be myself."

The show became a smash hit, earning Lenny a BAFTA award for the Best Male Comedy Performance in May.

He said: "I still can't believe it. I wake up every day and go 'er... what?'"

Lenny is excited about his upcoming project, The Queen Mary, a horror movie set on the titular vessel.

He said: "It's an interpretation of a story about an actual haunted ship but it's a lot darker and takes place in two different timelines - both in the present day and the 1930s. But the same thing happens to both families on the ship."

The film is set to stream on Hulu in the US, but no further details have yet been released.

The young star is also set to appear in the hugely popular BBC show Doctor Who "sometime next year". However, he revealed he had "never seen an episode".

Lenny has his sights firmly set on Hollywood, hoping to work in the US. He says he is keen to work with streaming giants like Netflix and Disney Plus, revealing: "I've got something for Disney Plus coming out soon".

He is inspired by actors like Warwick Davies, who is "successful but also happens to have dwarfism".

"Warwick has starred in some of the biggest films of all time, such as Harry Potter and Star Wars, and I think he shows that no matter what you really can do anything," Lenny explained.

The teenager is open about how his condition, dwarfism, has positively impacted his career.

"When I did A Christmas Carol, they were specifically looking for children with disabilities - so without my disability, I would never have got the role," he said.

However, Lenny is an accomplished actor first and foremost.

He says, "I want people to see me as just 'Lenny the actor' rather than 'Lenny the actor with dwarfism', although I do like to inspire others with disabilities too.

"If people do know, that's fine, and I'll be known as 'little' Lenny."

Follow Lenny on Instagram and Twitter for updates on his latest projects.
