Friday 22 September
Beeleigh Abbey Gardens open day, Maldon - 10.30am to 4.30pm
Explore the grounds at Beeleigh Abbey, including three acres of beautifully maintained gardens in a historic countryside setting, with mature trees surrounding the many plant and water features.
There are also woodland walks leading to the tidal River Chelmer, Beeleigh Falls, cottage and bog gardens. The extensive lawn contains the remains of a 12th century abbey incorporated into a mainly 17th century private residence, with a new ornamental glasshouse & herb garden being completed in 2020.
There is no need to book in advance. However, last admission is at 3.30pm, so allow plenty of time to visit.

Saturday 23 September
RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch, Lifeboat Station Open Day - 11am to 3pm
See the lifeboats, then meet and dunk the crew at this weekend's RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch Lifeboat Station Open Day!
The regular opening days offer the chance to pop in and enjoy tea, coffee or cake with views of the Burnham Yacht Harbour. Members of the crew will be available in the Station for a chat, plus tours of the boat houses to see the Atlantic 85 or D-Class will also be available. A fundraising stand at the Station has 50 RNLI-branded products at reasonable prices.
Activities include:
- Exercises / Demos
- Kids Games, Treasure Hunt & Souvenirs
- Tea, Coffee, Cake & Sweet Stand
- Local Stallholders, including various local artwork & Kids Toys and Games.
- Family picnic area and sheltered seating available.
Entry is free.
Paper-Making from Plants with Charles Bran, at Burnham Community Allotment - 2pm until 4pm
Make your own paper following a demonstration at the Burnham Community Allotment on September 23.
Charles Bran will show how paper is made from plants, with the opportunity for visitors to try out the process for themselves.

Maldon In Bloom Town Hall quiz night - from 7.30pm
Maldon In Bloom will hold a quiz night at the Town Hall to raise funds for local projects, on Saturday 23 September at 7.30pm.
All proceeds will go to create "beautiful planted areas" around Maldon. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the group's work throughout the town.
Tickets cost £5 each, and teams of up to six people are welcome. Quizmaster Mark Heard will lead the event, in which there will also be a raffle held.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own drinks and nibbles. To purchase tickets, get in touch with Maldon Town Council.
Sunday 24 September
Maldon Half-Marathon, at Plume Academy - 9am to 1pm
Join the Maldon Half Marathon, a stunning race through the picturesque countryside of Essex.
"Whether you are a seasoned runner or a beginner, you will find this course enjoyable and rewarding," say the organisers.
Participants will receive a range of benefits for participating in the Maldon Half Marathon, plus a high-quality race t-shirt and a medal to commemorate their achievement.
Steampunk Essextraordinaire VIII at the Museum of Power - 10am to 4pm
Take part in this year's Steampunk Essextraordinaire at the Museum of Power, where this year's theme will be 'Steampunk Under the Sea'.
The "splendid day of Victorian steampunk" will feature stalls, live music, burlesque, a Steampunk market, fancy dress, and jousting.
Tickets for adults cost £8, concessions £7, children (5-15) £5. Under 5's enter for free.
The Miniature Railway will be open for rides from 10am until 4pm. Adult £2, Child (3-15) £1, Children two years and under ride for free.
'Astaria' model village will also be open.
Activities will take place in the Marquee and in the grounds of the Museum, as the museum building is undergoing refurbishment.
