A NEW weather warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain for the Maldon district area has been

issued by the Met Office for today (Friday, 28 August).

Storms are expected in the East of England between 11am and 8pm, but are forecast to be most

likely for Maldon and the surrounding areas between 2pm and 8pm.

The yellow warning indicates that driving conditions may be affected by spray, standing water or hail,

road and rail journeys may suffer delays, some short term loss of power to homes and businesses is

possible – and there could be damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.

The weather is expected to settle over the weekend, leading to a dry Bank Holiday Monday with

some sunny intervals.
