Heavy rain or showers may lead to disruption in the Maldon District tonight (October 19) and early on Friday, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for the East of England, from 6am on Friday. Spray and flooding on roads are expected to make journey times longer, possibly with a few road closures.

Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services. The Met Office has also warned "a few homes and businesses" could flood.

Weather

In Maldon, there will be a "wet and windy" start on Friday, with coastal gales. Rain will clear northwards, with brighter skies and scattered showers developing in the afternoon.

It will be overcast on Saturday, changing to light rain in the afternoon.

In Burnham On Crouch, yellow warnings for wind and rain on Friday have been issued. However, the rain should clear by 2pm.

A yellow warning for wind is in place on Saturday and rain is expected between 1pm and 4pm.

"A further spell of persistent and, at times, heavy rain could lead to some disruption from early Friday through to early Saturday," a Met Office spokesperson added.
