Heybridge swifts 1, Braintree Town 1
Swifts fielded an unchanged side with one change on the bench - Kyran Henderson coming in for Rhys Henry. Braintree Town included former Swift Lamar Reynolds and were forced into a late change as Payne was injured in the warm up and Ikubiasi replaced him in the starting line up.
Heybridge took the game immediately to their Step 2 opponents and play from Ross Wall found Jack Adlington-Pile on the edge of the box and his shot in the 3rd minute was parried by keeper Sims before the loose ball was picked up by Andy Fennell who scored for his seventh of the season and fifth of this FA Cup campaign.
Swifts remained in full control of the opening half and allowed Braintree Town to play the ball around with little threat - the only effort of note seeing Aaron Blair forec a save from Callum Chafer just before the break.
HT 1-0
Swifts were forced into a change at the break with Rob Harvey having picked up an injury - he was replaced by the ever-dependable Sam Carter who slotted into midfield.
Braintree offered a bit more of a threat after the break but Swifts were again making plenty of chances to score what might be the important second goal - Fennell broke clear on the left and forced Sims into a fine save and the same player went close just before the hour. Jack Adlington-Pile picked up a yellow card on the hour and he then was sent clear ten minutes later forcing Sims into another fine save but Adlington-Pile remained on the gound clutching his hamstring (resulting in him being withdrawn with 11 minutes remaining) - Manny N'Daw coming on in his place.
As the game moved into the last five minutes, Swifts continued to repel the increasing Iron attack but they finally drew level in the 85th minute when Aaron Blair crossed from the right and Matt Rush nipped in at the far post to score.
With five minutes injury time added, Iron sensed a dramatic winner might be on the cards but fortunately for Swifts a shot from Blair sailed over the bar in the dying seconds.
The late leveller from Braintree Town means a replay at Clockhouse Way on Tuesday night.
