The region's two non-league sides will start their FA Trophy journeys this evening (Tuesday, 13 September).

The first qualifying round ties in non-League's premier cup competition were due to be played on Saturday but were postponed as a mark of respect following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

They have been rescheduled and tonight Isthmian North Heybridge Swifts will travel to Eden Park Avenue to face Beckenham Town, while their fellow Isthmian North neighbours Maldon and Tiptree will be home at the Wallace Binder Stadium to Ware.

Beckenham play at the same level as Swifts, in the Isthmian South East Division which they currently top, having won all four of their league matches. And like Swifts, they have won through to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup where they are due to meet Dartford away on Saturday.

The lofty position of their hosts shouldn't faze Swifts, who themselves are unbeaten in their league with three wins and draw and they have a find FA Cup away win at Hitchen under their belts too. On Saturday they face a potentially enthralling FA Cup derby and a possible second 'giantkilling' when they host Braintree Town.

The winners of tonight's tie will be home to Chipstead or Waltham Abbey in the next round on Saturday, 24 September.

In contrast Maldon's season has started poorly. They have lost all their league fixtures but they too have won through in the FA Cup and host Hornchurch this weekend.

Tonight's visitors Ware play in the Southern League Division One Central where they sit fourth with three wins and a draw from their matches, though they did bow out of the FA Cup to Berkhamsted fellow Southern League Central table-toppers Berkhamsted.

The winners of tonight's match will play Witham Town or Brentwood away.

Tonight's matches will be played to a conclusion, with extra time and penalties if necessary. Winners tonight will pick up £1,500, the losers receive £400.
